Mindset Workout 2: Adaptability
Adaptability keeps you dangerous. When defenses change coverages or your A-game isn’t there, you “change gears”: different angles, different reads, same impact. Use this workout to practice switching plans without losing confidence.
âś… Hacks to Implement:
-
"Change Gears" Cue — Snap your fingers and say, “Change gears,” whenever you see a trap or hard hedge; immediately choose pass, split, or retreat-dribble to reset the action.
-
One-Shift Rule —If two consecutive possessions stall, make one tactical shift (e.g., reject screen, hit short roll, attack weak-side closeout) on the next possession—no overthinking.
-
Plan B/C Card —Before tip, pick two alternate attacks (e.g., early drag into skip, ghost screen into slip). Write them on a small card or in notes and commit to using each once per quarter.
đź’ˇ Action Step:
Create your three personal adaptability hacks (use the examples above or your own) and email them to [email protected] before you leave .
